Incredible museum! A MUST if you visit Indy, also remember to visit the Lily House before 5pm. A whole day is needed to visit both the museum and the gardens!
It's wonderful. The 2nd floor houses the American and European galleries among others. The African gallery and the Asian gallery are on the 3rd floor. But the 4th floor has two of my favorite pieces.

Went to Art in the Park! It is going on every Sunday in Sept. & October. Chance to create your own art masterpiece. Also saw the Autumn Equinox performance. It was an amazing show even for the adults!

You have to check backpacks, but if you're using it as a diaper bag, you can take it in if you wear it across your chest. Also, kids are not allowed to ride on parents' shoulders in the galleries.
The Museum first opened to the public in 1906 under the John Herron Art Institute & was later moved here to its permanent residence in1910 where more than 5000 residents came out for the opening night

If you look like a professional photographer, they *will* make you put your gear away. They now require a $50/day or $400/year pass to be a pro... and they *do* check.
