Great large airport with plenty of shopping areas for Duty Free options. Gove yourself plenty of time to get through security. It goes fairly quickly but you don’t want to cut it close.
Interesting site where Socrates was possibly held prisoner. There is still some debate on whether this is the exact spot, but it was used for confining prisoners during the period of Ancient Greece.
This is a great pizza shop near Monistraki. They have some great combinations to choose from and you really can’t go wrong. The crust is very good! Limited seating.
Nice little restaurant with some good options, especially some of their salads. All of their sandwich and salad options utilize healthy ingredients. They have a fresh take on some standard fares.
While the site isn’t well preserved in the sense of giving perspective to tourists it is a must see.Crazy how you can see how a small number of Spartans and Thespians bravely fought the Persians.
Amazing!Great site in the mountains where a lot of Ancient Greek history played out with revelations from the Oracle.The site is well preserved & you get a very good perspective of how Delphi was.
Fantastic museum. Although it is not big it has a lot of wonderful artifacts from the site. It offers a great perspective of how the archaeological site of Delphi was originally laid out.
Great traditional Greek food in this Taverna in Delphi. You can’t beat the views from their main dining room and seating outside if you desire. Excellent service all the way around.
We only had a few hours here while Island hopping. I wish we had more time. Definitely some good shopping and eating around the port. You can find their famous pistachios throughout town.
Good cafe near Syntagma Square. The Gyro meat was very good and the portions on the dishes were generous. Very busy as it’s on the main road between Syntagma and Monistraki.
Fantastic modern museum built at the base of the Acropolis over some ruins. Tons of artifacts and presentations. Don’t forget to go below to look at the ruins of dwellings of Ancient Greeks.
Very good Cafe with some nice options. I tried the pancakes with Nutella, bananas and strawberries and it was amazing. Topped it off with an Americano. The egg sandwich is also a good option.
A mostly complete intact temple of the Doric style dedicated to Hephaistos, the patron God of metal working who supposedly forged weapons for all the gods. Very cool to see it mostly intact.
This is one of the better areas for archaeological sites. A lot to look at and it gives a great perspective on the lives of Ancient Greeks and how society operated. As well as some of Rome’s influence
A bucket list must see. The entire Acropolis offers so much history and not just about the Parthenon structure. Various temples on other buildings are on top as well.Bring some water as it can get hot
A must see in Athens. 2300 year old stadium completely made out of marble that at one time could seat 80,000. Stays open late and you can also enter from a back street in the neighborhood at night.
Very hip bar in the neighborhood. Low key but nice vibe and friendly bartender who can make some very good cocktails! Good selection of signature cocktails including the Monkey Face which was tasty.
Nice ambiance and offerings of Italian fare. The service was very good. My Lasagna Bolognese could have used more noodles to give it some hardiness but otherwise it was pretty good.
Good service and food. The last Cafe stop before making the turn to head up to the Acropolis. A good spot to refuel before ascending up the hill. A nice spot for a cold Mythos beer on a hot day.
Must see area where Rome had extended its power in early AD and late BC. Not as large as the Ancient Agora but provides an idea of the Roman presence.
