The TravelerAoût 12, 2018Went for the tour only. Emily was the tour guide. She was very funny and informative. The hotel is amazing to see. You can have a drink at the bar and go to the gift shop. Beautiful setting. 👍👍
NONE of stanley kubricks "the shining" was filmed at the Stanley Hotel! The exterior shots were filmed in Mt. Hood Oregon at the Timberline Lodge! The interior was filmed on a sound stage in London!

Traffic is a mess with all the on-site construction.

He is informative, knowledgeable, funny, and makes sure to make sure everyone is having an great time!- Take a photo of the blocked stairwell on the 4th floor, if you have your camera on flash it will reveal the word RedRum scratched in the wood.
When checkin' in ask/hope that you get a room that faces Estes Park. The rooms that face the back of the hotel have the worse views and can get a bit noisy from the outdoor bar!
