Cozy, intimate, and laid back atmosphere. No wifi, but it adds to the charm. Their cheesecakes are fabulous and so is the baklava. Try the Hungarian coffee and stay a while. Staff is the best.
It has a good atmosphere. Very busy and packed when I was there. (You need to be okay sharing tables). The pastries and coffees are at affordable prices. Great student hang out.
Mindblowing croissants in a beautiful atmosphere. The Hungarian Pastry Shop is an iconic NYC coffee shop, perfect for meeting cute philosophy PhD students, catching up with friends, or reading a book.
Super spot in W. Harlem. Expect a line, hardly any seats, BUT great service and even greater pastries. I think a lot of students from Columbia go to hang. Recommend the lemon cheesecake!
Культовое место, которое любят все, кто связан с Колумбийским университетом сейчас и которое помнит тех, кто был с ним связан когда-то. Очень вкусно все, не только венгерская сдоба.
The chill ambiance and hot cider make this the perfect study spot on campus. Your convos may be overheard as the tables are close to each other so speak or text accordingly. Have a piece of strudel!
Interesting atmosphere, and the setting is quiet enough to have a conversation, which is hard to find in the city. The cheesecake and coffee were excellent and the service was quick and friendly.
First pastry shop I went to when I moved here and it's still my favorite. I've never tried anything that I didn't like. Great spot to relax or pick up treats for dinner parties.
AWESOME, out of control pastries. Columbia students socializing instead of studying. Cozy with outdoor space. NO WIFI, which makes the ambience that much better but doesn't eliminate laptops entirely.
Croissants in the morning and creamer puffs in the afternoon. Be ready to try something new or else you might have to wait 3 hours for the next batch to come out.
best outdoor seatingcoffee spot with good coffee and even better pastries I mean it is a pastry shop after all and there ain't on back I my hood across the park.
Comforting neighborhood hangout. You will overhear much talk of theses and pseudo intellectual discourse but the chocolate croissants are A1 makes it worth it. No iced coffee in the winter :(
Common guys! You can't believe foursquare! Who said that its cheep??? Coffee to go 3.75??really..I spend almost the same in Italian restaurant on the corner of 114 w street for beauty cheescake
One of my favorite places to people watch in NYC. Grab a coffee, a dessert, sit outside (weather permitting) and watch away. A lot of Columbia University students frequent this spot.
The Hungarian Pastry Shop has been meeting place for students and uptown writers since the 70s. This shop is the perfect place to pair a cup of coffee with a succulent old-world pastry.
Awesome pastries (obvs) and good Hungarian coffee. Lots of space. NO WIFI which can really help keep you focused on studying. Dim lighting. Can get loud when crowded.
This shop seems to be stuck in the past. There are old signs that advertise pastries that are no longer sold and graffiti by Columbia students from years ago. Still, the newer pastries are delicious.
The shop has only a few traditional Hungarian pastries but lots of non-Hungarian sweets like baklava, cheese cake and mousse. Mediocre place with pseudo intellectual college crowd and a bit pricey too
Got some serious work to do? Crack down in this wifi-less and homeycafe. Pastries leave much to be desired. Get an iced Hungarian coffee with whipped cream
don't look for computer outlets here! instead, curl up with a book by one of the lamps near the wall and enjoy the surrounding academic banter. this is my go-to spot for reading and doing work.
