As the winter wind blows in from the north, it's time to check-in all around Alton and let your winter eagle watching adventure begin! Here are our favorite eagle watching hot spots.
Visit Alton: View eagles in action soaring high above the confluence from viewing platforms at 50, 100 & 150 feet. Put on your eagle eyes because the vantage point is awesome.
Visit Alton: Eagles looking for fish can be seen soaring above the Locks & Dam. The National Great Rivers Museum offers indoor spotting scopes for viewing.
Visit Alton: This is your Eagle Watching Headquarters. View a live bald eagle on select Saturdays in January. Pick up information on dining, loding, shopping, events and the best places to see the eagles.
Visit Alton: Head down to Front St. and stretch your legs with a quick walk along the riverfront to view eagles perched in the trees and out on the river.
Visit Alton: Ride across the Brussels Ferry into Calhoun County and follow the signs to Swan Lake. Stop at the Visitor Center to use the viewing scopes.
Visit Alton: The park is a popular home to eagles, which are often seen along the Illinois River banks and spotted from various scenic lookout points within the park.
