Sit at the chef's counter for brunch if you can. Small menu, but pretty reliable for both food and cocktails. Brussels sprouts (when in season) and sticky date cake are great.
Great brunch, loved everything we had. Best brunch burger I've had and I typically don't like eggs on my burger, def beats out Saxon & Parole's burger. Food here is made with love and you can taste it
Apparently Feb 21 was the FIRST DAY EVER they offered their burger w/ a duck egg... and it's the most delicious thing ever. (beware: a little sloppy tho)
If you’re wandering around Brooklyn Heights from Monday to Friday at 5pm, then take advantage of Colonie’s exceptional Raw BarHappy Hour. Shrimp Cocktail (peeled) and Oysters for $1.00
Ugh tbh everything we had was excellent. We got diff pastas (4) and I can’t pick which was best. Appetizers were great too, but the sea scallopcrudo was a standout to me. Need to go back for more tho
Incredible meal. All of the crostinis, marketvegetables, small plates and large plates were amazing. Pastas were good, not great. Still highly recommend.
Pork chop melts in your mouth, there seasonal cocktails are excellent as well! Summer salad, crostini, oysters and dessertdoughnuts are all must. Fantastic eats, service and ambiance.
Voted our Best Eggs Benny in 2014, this biscuit Benedict is easily our favorite dish at Colonie. Featuring a crispy house-made biscuit, smoked ham & poached egg, it's topped with a unique Hollandaise. En savoir plus
Share small plates (the egg saladcrostini is rich with lardo but not overwhelming), get a pasta, and split the Bavette (steak). Save space for the sticky date cake, it's moist, sugary, and amazing!
the duck hash is PHENOMENAL. their special pork belly sandwich is sinfully incredible. cocktails look delicious as well. generally a wonderful place for brunch or dinner.
Order many small plates, like this cavatelli with beefragu, then split hanger steak as your main. If there's a long wait, head across the street to Long Islandbar for killer pre-dinner cocktails.
Excellent for dinner with friends/colleagues. Cocktails are always on point, but the consistency & creativity of the food that pulls you back. End it with a glass of Madeira with the sticky date cake!
I had the Empire State Sour cocktail, yum :) The House Ricotta was delicious. The Pork Chop was a bit too salty for me, but my friend really enjoyed the Butcher's Cut. End with Sticky Date Cake!
Killer brunch, the duck hash is the most popular item for a reason. Sit at the bar, get a bartender to make you a custom cocktail, anything with bourbon.
NYMag Best of New York (2018): "A seasonal, often local, American menu with Italian influences that allows simple vegetable dishes, homemade pastas, and fresh seafood to shine."
I've never been to a spot that cared more about its product from farm to check. Sit with Chef Andrew and crew at the kitchen counter. Order doughnuts, duck hash, burger, date cake, and french press
Menu consists of comforting, familiar fare, nothing too weird, but prepared with care and attention to detail. Love the high ceilings and open kitchen. Attractive, non-snarky staff. Two thumbs up. <3
crostini & small plates are great. creste rigate is delicious. tagliatelle is just ok. for drinks, try eve's hard cider & the cool hand cuke. they accept limited reservations, so try to call ahead.
Part of the restaurant's push for sustainability are nose-to-tail practices: Colonie recently switched to entirely sourcing its beef from a small farm in Pennsylvania and butchering the cows in-house. En savoir plus
The buttermilk biscuits are beyond buttery. You've been warned. Wildly flavorful and juicy scrambled eggs. Also: Duck Hash: never fails to blow socks off. Great brunch, You can't go wrong.
The Colonie Burger has a grass-fed beef patty, topped with beetketchup, aged cheddar, bacon, and cucumbers. It came with a side of grilled corn. The bacon's a bit tough, but the burger is tasty. En savoir plus
Great service, really good food!. Definitely one of the best places to go. Brunch here is fantastic, try leek and gruyereomelet or duck hash. They have French press coffee too!
Possibly my favorite brunch place in downtown Brooklyn. First time? Order the scramble, crostini w/ ricotta, and a side of Brussels sprouts. Wash it down with a delicious crisp michelada.
Duck hash is amazingly good. Warm mini donuts wonderful. Biscuit Benedict good. House cured salmon and potato pancakes a bit disappointing - salmon bland and pancakes a little too crispy.
Really tasty brunch. Get the monkey bread!! The Biscuit Benedict paired the their French press coffee is amazing, as well. Afterward, stroll down to the Brooklyn BridgePark.
You can't go wrong here. Favorite new spot. The steak, duck rillette crostini, deep fried brussell sprouts and bacon, pork belly and pickledradish and Cool Hand Cuke cocktail were all amazing. Do it.
Duck rillette crostini, Brussels sprouts with cranberries & pancetta, and multiple date cakes! Im addicted and I don't even like dates. the Empire Statecocktail is extra lovely
For $15, the spaghetti squash is not really as filling as a pasta dish might be, but if you're looking for something light, flavorful, and delicious this is it. En savoir plus
The main courses, among them roast chicken and a sizable pork chop, tend to be hearty, though whole fish, fresh from the market, is on the menu as well. En savoir plus
Black mission figcrostini were amazing! Also, the mamasita and autum squashagnolotti. Fun to get a bunch of things and share because portions are a little small but everything is delicious!
Wood, brick, and living greenery walls are a natural backdrop to the heirloom salads, farm-raised game, and playfully named cocktails you’ll find at this upscale seasonal dining den.
So far I have yet to be disappointed. For brunch try the pancakes and the asparagusgruyere scramble w/ a side of homemadebacon. Both their bloody Mary w/ special celery salt & peachBellini r fab!
You can't go wrong here. Order a mix of small plates & veggies and don't forget the duck rillettes. The steak & scallops are amazing. One of the best restaurants in Brooklyn.
If a garden could grow a fresh, delicious cocktail, it'd be the "Cool Hand Cuke". Unique, tasty & a perfect drink to sip as you wait for a table (they don't take reservations, but the wait was fun).
