Get there in the afternoon to avoid long ticket queues and very crowded site as morning are very popularThe ascent is not that hard and for tired people there are benches in tree shadows everywhere
Take water and go to the toilet at the ticket office area - no facilities once you’re through the entrance barriers. Signage explaining Greek myth is poor (instead lots about restoration works)
Even though this is a very touristy area, this part of Athens is a must seen. You want to head to the hills in order to discover the beautiful houses there. Also, look for the street art :-)
Sunsets at this ancient location during the summer are sublime. Sadly the administration of this place boots you out as soon as the sun has finished setting.
Everything that’s inside you can see from outside. No doubt that it’s an epic historic place, but the entrance fee isn’t worth it.

Tiny, cramped and poorly-run. Don’t go through security early since there is often nowhere to sit near the gates.
Great functional airport. Departure area has a small museum and plenty of great eateries before & after the check-in.
