Charles Chen: Worth the trouble getting the reservation. A uniquely French-Japanese experience only to be found in Tokyo. Professional service combined with beautifully presented, delicious fare.

Charles Chen: The most charming and warm of my Michelin 3-star experiences. Food was prepared with precision and subtly. Ask for counter seating; Chef Ishikawa will be an integral part of your experience.
Charles Chen: Somewhat of a hidden gem in the metropolis of Tokyo. Modern, classy casual design, which would be a huge hit in NYC. Food is straightforward but beautifully presented. Ask for counter seating.

Charles Chen: 3 words: Shio Yuzu Ramen. Mindblowingly delicious and unique. Umami-rich chicken broth base combined with a herbaceous, citrus note from the Yuzu is married flawlessly with thin Hakata-style noodles.

Charles Chen: About 20 minutes from Haneda airport, this is probably the best bowl of ramen you will find nearby if stuck on a layover. Rich, milky, tonkotsu broth with thin Hakata noodles - choose your toppings.
Charles Chen: It's always Daiwa or Dai if your at Tsukiji market. It might be touristy to eat sushi at Tsukiji but there is no debating the quality you will receive. Dai remains one long counter and less of a line
Charles Chen: Worth bearing the long lines for fresh, quality sushi at affordable prices. Turnover = freshness; this place is always busy. The line goes pretty fast and always expect one. Rice can be hit or miss
Restaurant servant des soba · 六本木 · 25 conseils et avis
Charles Chen: NY SOHO legend continues the delicious soba tradition in Roppongi. Always fresh, always made just right. A strong sense of seasonality is emphasized on the menu as well as some unique offerings.
Charles Chen: One of the better and more diverse basement foodhalls of Tokyo. More affordable but just as specialized as some of the more higher end department store foodhalls. Get there after 8pm for reductions!
Charles Chen: Experienced one of the best meals of my life here. Incredible hospitality and even more special food. A fun journey through delicious courses of precisely executed plates. One of the best in Tokyo.
Charles Chen: One of only a few places in the world to have aged coffee beans. A very unique experience for coffee aficionados in an old-time setting. Very little has changed since it opened in 1948. A rare treat.
Restaurant de cuisine au barbecue · 西麻布 · 26 conseils et avis
Charles Chen: For high-quality Yamagata Wagyu yakiniku, this is the place. You can hardly go wrong by even picking blindly off the menu. Slices are brought out and then cooked for you at the table. Can get pricey.
Charles Chen: A definite stop if you are into Neopolitan style pizza. Slightly adjusted for the Japanese palate, the flavors are clean and bright. A wood burning oven puts out the pies in just a few minutes.
Charles Chen: One of the most unique coffee experiences in the world. Perhaps one of the most quiet coffee shops in the world, with the focus truly on the coffee in the cups. Espresso is like chocolate motor-oil.
Charles Chen: A great place to experience the local bounty of Japan. Mostly organic goods are offered with samples of nearly everything available. Food trucks put out delicious & fresh goods at reasonable prices.

Charles Chen: Butagumi is a place of discovery. The menu is an encyclopedia of pork from Japan and other parts of the world. Feel free to ask for advice as English is easily spoken here. Narrow it down and enjoy.
Charles Chen: The ShinQ food levels are amazing. Housing the world's only Le Pain de Robuchon as well as outlets for noted brands Sadaharu Aoki & Hermes. You can pretty much find anything you need in the 2 levels.

Charles Chen: You go here for the Tsukemen and leave with the satisfaction. Depending on the time of the day it will be a short or ridiculous line. It moves pretty fast. The dipping broth/gravy is rich & delicious.
Charles Chen: This has got to be one of the coolest places to get espresso drinks in the world. The old world Japanese building with a one man espresso show & garden make for a unique experience. A must in the area

Charles Chen: Ichiran is a good standard for beginners in ramen in Japan. Open 24 hours this Shibuya location is near the station in the basement. They have an English menu and a it is very consistent. Porky broth.
