I believe they release a gas inside every Costco that compels spending >$200 on the way out. Somehow one can't resist, say, two barrels of detergent strapped to a skid. How can you not love that?
They fixed a broken hose, cleaned up and restored our multi-$hundred Electrolux upright for $30, and actually had the small Shop-Vac bags we needed too. Very friendly as well.
They had what we wanted (24 6 oz wine glasses), which Cost Plus and other less specialized stores did not.
They have "Cortado" on the menu and know how to make one: always a good sign.
What you want to admire is its aspirations, which it sometimes (e.g. with its rodeos) achieves.
