Ginta Lavina: Cozy, have menus from already brunch time, and in the evenings can be a party with a dj. Interesting recipes, a very friendly place for vegetarians.

Ginta Lavina: If you want to have a light meal at a cozy place, slash gallery, try DAD cafe. They have very good pancakes with mushroom and cheese filling. Yes, Latvians love pancakes.

Ginta Lavina: Definitely a place to check out whether anything is going on. Alternative performers and a very good atmosphere Not to even mention the giant lion on the terasse.

Ginta Lavina: Latvians ar pancake eaters. Try with muchroom/potato or cabbage, or cottage cheese filled pancakes. Its a must to eat them with sour cream.

Ginta Lavina: If you want traditional Latvian food for cheap moneys, try Lido bistro. My favourites are liver/potato pudding, cabbage roll and some fish dishes. Try oat flake cream in berry sauce for a dessert.

Ginta Lavina: If you want to experience Soviet style apartment feeling with a really cheap drink/beer, goota come here. Bartenders eye-measure alcohol and sometimes it can be very strong. Hope you get the couches.

Ginta Lavina: Relatively new bar that I am looking forward to go to. Looks very cozy with it's eclectic style. And hipster.

Ginta Lavina: A nice place to hang out in peace. Buy a can of beer in the big taxfree booze shop and empty it next to the river Daugava if its good weather. Just beware of police - no alcohol in public!

Ginta Lavina: Great view in outdoor couches with a good beer and food. Really almost a ticket to heaven.

Ginta Lavina: Coffee shop with quite a big menu too. Try a champignon soup if they have.

Ginta Lavina: A good hipsterbar with a juke box. Also serves food. In this and other bars you have to try these beers: Valmiermuižas, Užavas, Bauskas, Līvu griķu, if possible try any nonfiltered Latvian beer.

Ginta Lavina: Might be wrong, but I actually think it was the first bar in Soviet living room style in Riga. Try chechers or chess and have a good honey beer.

Ginta Lavina: Good bar/caffe. They used to have an amazing hot chocolate. Which is not a cacao, but a real melted chocolate.

Ginta Lavina: Europes largest market and bazaar, built in the beginning of 20th century, hosting more than 3000 trade stands. If you go there, try not to look like tourists, and please take care of your belongings.

Ginta Lavina: Each Soviet city had to have this building. Located just behind the Central market.

Ginta Lavina: Good place in this neighborhood. Close to bridge, and near the heart of Pārdaugava - Āgenskalns.

Ginta Lavina: The heart of the Pārdaugava region, so close to the center, but so close to the country feeling too. Wooden houses and kitchen gardens. Just try not to look too touristy here either.

Ginta Lavina: A mustsee if you want to know about Latvian art.

Ginta Lavina: If you are in Riga on the 8th of March you should see the queues at the flower stands. Latvian men show their appreciation to women on the Womens day.

Ginta Lavina: This neogothic style building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Riga. Go inside and look also from inside, it is allowed to do.

Ginta Lavina: Most important monument of Latvia. Mildas face now is also on our new Euro coins.

Ginta Lavina: OldRiga is more than 800 years old and one can not just stop wandering in this place with the small streets and amazing architecture. Every time I go there, I find a street I've never been before.

Ginta Lavina: Spīķeri is not only a concert hall, but also an art space. Really cool and creative.

Ginta Lavina: Park, close to the National museum and Art Academy. There is also the main Orthodox church in Riga. Worth to go in and check it out for it's icons.

Ginta Lavina: Riga is famous for its Art Noveau buildings. You can find the history of it in this museum, which is hosted by Jugenstyle building itself.
