The lake is beautiful. There's a trail that goes around it where you can walk and even encounter seals that are just laying on large ice pieces or swimming around.
If you don't have a 4WD car, leave it by the main road and be prepared for a 45 minute hike on an otherworldly moonscape. You can even walk down the beach if you have the time after reaching the plane
I took a guided tour where we walked on the glacier for about 2 hours during winter time. On a clear day the views are amazing and you might even encounter small ice caves and arctic foxes.
The best food I had in Iceland. Lobster salad and slow cooked salmon were amazing. It can be quite expensive but definitely worth it. The place is very quiet, cozy and romantic.
The best thing my eyes have ever experienced. Huge waves from the Atlantic Ocean crashing on the black sand beaches as far as the eye can see.
Amazing waterfall. If weather allows it and it's not too icy, don't forget to walk behind the waterfall. Raincoat recommended along with waterproof gear!
Frequent eruptions (every 2-8 minutes)! Truly unique experience. Don't get too close and careful not to slip on the ice!
