You drive a rough road, go up high, park and climb down 60 floors of mostly stone steps. It is a bit tiring but once the trail has ended you see what paradise on earth really is!
It is said that Sfakia once had as many as a hundred churches and chapels,built for one reason or another by devout Sfakiiots, but few survived the wartime bombardments.
If you visit the Venizelos Tombs you can enjoy a drink or a coffee at the nearby cafés, which also offer a magnificent view of Chania from above!
