Sometimes I find myself with an unusual craving for chewy, Shanghainese rice cakes. The rendition at Bund is legit. I like to add soy & chili to them to kick the flavor up a notch. WinstonWanders.com
Xiao Long Bao is excellent and famous, but I'm here for the Dan Dan Noodles. Spicy pork noodle soup. Always lively, but seldom a wait, unlike Great Eastern across the street.
probably the best and the most authentic shanghainese restaurant in #SanFran ... something different & you'll like: crab & meat dumplings (real crab meat & lots) ... u can thank me later :p

Best 'vegetable rice' (literal translation) everrrrr! Also get the fish head soup, sweet vinegar spareribs (rough translation)! Really good stuff and at a decent price :)
The real deal. If you want the mom and pop Chinese restaurant and stay away from the tourist crowds this is it. Bottom of the hill and away from it all. AND delicious.
Pork in garlic sauce is excellent, said the xiao long bao, and sweet and sour soup. This is a fantastic place for near authentic food that has not been "westernized."
I cannot praise the ma po tofu enough. Please do yourself some justice and order it now. If you have an inkling for spiciness, order it with an extra spicy label.
It was ok, don't think I'll go again. I went to try the Xiao Long Bao. But the skin was too thick, the meat too dense, the soup not enough. Prices are okay though.
