Tasty dishes without the heavy addition of MSG and flavouring agents found in so many other entry-level Chinese restaurants in SF. Excellent value for money and fast service make for great lunch spot.

Amazing authentic tasting dishes. Very affordable, family style dishes and friendly staff. Will custom spiciness of food from not-hot, mild-med, hot, or v. hot. v. hot = lots of whole dried chilis

Very good place, recommend if you like spicy and sour Hunan cusine. Definitely the best Chinese restaurant around Montgomery. Long lines at lunch time, so recommend to arrive at around 11:30.

Henry's Special is the obvious, and outstanding, choice. The Polish Sausage, Hunan Style is more surprising, and also excellent.

Fannish institution. This is where SFinSF holds pre-author event dinners. Food is pretty good, but it is particularly a good place for large groups during dinner (probably not for a short lunch).

The authentic Hunan flavors may be spicy, but that's part of the experience. Don't miss the hot and sour soup and meat pies.

The Kung Pao beef and pork chow mein make a great combo. Authentic, fresh Hunanese.

Kung pao chicken was bland, everything else I've had here is great. My fave is five spiced bean curd

Stellar food, but I think they forgot about us. We waited over 30 minutes to be served, though 3 tables seated after us all were served before us. That sucked, because the food really is amazing.

Everything kind of tastes the same but the spicy dishes were good. Kung pao chicken was solid.

Hot and sour soup is only $1 and fantastic! i like every dish, but my fave is the kung pao! harvest pork is good too

It's packed at noontime, especially on Fridays. Come a little earlier or later (11:30 or 12:45) to avoid the wait.
