Incredible experience! Sat at counter, amazing to see all the ingredients and fun. Uni and seafood dishes lived up to all the hype and meats were delicious as well. Yellowtail app was one of our faves

Sit at the counter and enjoy the authentic experience. We got the Omakase- excellent! Added some Uni choices- which was great! Prefer the Wagyu rather than the full grilled fish.

The sake is amaze. Sit at the counter and get Robatayaki: Zucchini, Satsumaimo (pumpkin), Fillet Steak, and Mune (chicken breast). And the dressing for the Green Salad is SO GOOD!

Uni sashimi $20 for 4 pieces, whole grilled seasonal fish $30, crab and seaweed appetizer were all super fresh. Book ahead esp if you want omakase.

A great japanese izakaya, bustling bar in front, quieter area with tables in back. Try dry stingray fins, a fantastic beer snack. Snow crab dumplings are delicious as is salmon kamameshi (rice).

Come here and watch your meal be cooked right in front of you. The fresh fish and vegetables are handpicked and cooked to perfection. So amazing.

Grab a table in the sky-lit back room. Lunch on Saturdays/Sundays offers grilled fishes as well as the uni ikura don. There is an appetizer bar with tsukemono, ohitashi, simmered root vegetables, etc.

Used to be my favorite place for great, authentic Japanese food at a great value, but since they changed owners the prices skyrocketed & the varied menu options disappeared. Hoping they bring it back!

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Sit at the bar, order a nice saké and eat until you're full. Okra, mushrooms, grilled fish and crab are all a must.

Kamameshi takes a half hour but it's worth the wait. Get all the grilled stuff you think you can eat and double down on a whole fish option if you think you're full

Join in the festivities and grab a place a the bar, you’ll be immensely entertained. Get either the tasting menu or the omakase…pray they serve you the filet of cod.

Stay away from meats here - fish and vegetables are the highlights. Sit by the front bar for the full experience. Miso Cod is outstanding, and finish your meal with one of the Kamameshi bowls

One of the best date places in NYC. You want to make sure to get seated around the communal table so you can watch the chefs in action. Get the crab rice, it takes 30 min but it's worth it.

The filet of cod was cooked to perfection. It was delicious. The grilled Japanese yam & shiitake were wonderful. The crab dumplings in soup & the earthenware pot were great too.

One of my most happily spent $20-range lunches in NY. Robataya's uni/ikura don with unlimited pickles and veggies + miso soup made me indescribably happy and full.

Although a bit pricier than other Japanese restaurants, with the generous portions, complimentary vegetable appetizers, amazing service, and cute decor, this is a must try!

Hands down my favorite restaurant in the city- for the food and the ambiance. I loved it even more when it hadn't been bought out by Ootoya though.

Get a bit of sashimi, but make sure to tear through the rest of the menu (which is nothing short of heavenly). If you walk out thinking it's a sushi restaurant, you ordered wrong.

A bite of food has yet to pass my lips, and this is already one of my favorite places in the world simply because of the toilet. It is like something Oprah or Martha Stewart would have. Water jets.

If the food were half as good/original as the theme, concept and decor, it would be really something. As it is, the stage is set for a play that does not deliver.

If you want to go to Japan, then buy a plane ticket. If you can’t, then go to Robataya. It’ll take your taste buds to the Far East without having to leave Manhattan.
