Eric: Oysters only available Monday/Wednesday. The shrimp is good but the line gets crazy-long. You can go inside to the bar and order from the same menu.

Restaurant cajun et créole · Mid-City · 67 conseils et avis
Eric: Classic New Orleans cuisine. They do beautiful things with crab and crawfish. Right on Canal so it's easy to hop a streetcar to/from the quarter.
Restaurant de fruits de mer · Lower Garden District · 204 conseils et avis
Eric: Incredible. The fried bread, grilled royal red shrimp, brussels sprouts with chili vinegar: all were simply stunning. Best restaurant we visited in our week in New Orleans.
1113 Decatur St (Ursulines), La Nouvelle-Orléans, LA
Restaurant antillais · French Quarter · 82 conseils et avis
Eric: Stellar tiki drinks (don't be afraid to go off-menu: the bitter mai tai is amazing) and excellent food (fried ribs, corn with habanero mayo, tostones). The patio is an oasis when the weather's nice.
401 Magazine St (Natchez St), La Nouvelle-Orléans, LA
Restaurant cajun et créole · Central Business District · 52 conseils et avis
Eric: Cajun classics done right. If you need an introduction to cajun cuisine, this is as good a place to start as any. Étouffée, jambalaya, gumbo, the list goes on and on. Great fried catfish too.
Coffee Shop · French Quarter · 119 conseils et avis
Eric: Excellent espresso from a rotating cast of roasters from around the country. If you're into third-wave coffee, this is place to go. Currently pulling: Passion House from Chicago. It's excellent.
4905 Freret St (Upperline St.), La Nouvelle-Orléans, LA
Bar à cocktail · Freret · 95 conseils et avis
Eric: It's a pain to get out here without a car, but trust me: it's worth the cabfare there and back. Best cocktail bar in town: inventive recipes, new flavors, all perfectly crafted.
214 Royal St (in Hotel Monteleone), La Nouvelle-Orléans, LA
Bar d'hôtel · French Quarter · 272 conseils et avis
Eric: Get a barstool if you can. Order a Vieux Carré and while the world is spinning around you, imagine what this place was like when the drink was invented here in 1938.
Salle de concert jazz et blues · Marigny · 134 conseils et avis
Eric: There's usually a cover, but they've got the best booze on Frenchmen St, and the tunes are great. Once you've paid the cover you can come and go as you like (with your beverage in a to-go cup).
Brasseur · Lower Garden District · 25 conseils et avis
Eric: They opened a week ago and aren't pouring their own beer yet. That said, if the quality of the tap list is any indication, they're gonna be a shining beacon of hops in an otherwise hop-poor town.
