Liz Courtney: My favorite new place to eat in Red Hook. Try the Kao Soy, a sort of noodle curry stew with chicken legs that just fall off the bone. Also the sausage is spicy and delicious.
Liz Courtney: Pretty sure in that episode of 30 Rock where the firemen get those amazing hero sandwiches from Brooklyn and won't tell Liz where they are from... they were from Defonte's.
Liz Courtney: Having Fairway nearby is one of the best things about living in Red Hook. They have an enormous produce section, a wide selection of eco-friendly goods, tasty prepared foods, and a lovely patio.
Liz Courtney: Beautiful sunset views over the water. Kayaking and movie nights in the summer. Once I saw a seal pop his head out of the water in February.

Liz Courtney: Dustin Yellin's gallery space is worth visiting just for the building itself, a warehouse with vaulted ceilings and three floors of artist-in-residence studios. Lovely backyard too and a friendly dog.
Liz Courtney: Friendly and easy to shop wine and spirits store. They are often doing tastings and playing good tunes. Lots of local wines and booze plus plenty of under-$12 options for cheap drinkers like me.

Liz Courtney: The crowds are a bit intense, and the staff vibe is a little Applebees-y, but the setting and the view can't be beat. Plus the food is pretty good. Also: cornhole.
