Best clam chowder in the city. Amazing seafood. Started by 2 Croatian brothers during the Gold Rush, making it the oldest restaurant in the state. This place rocks. No reservations, so get here early.
FAV. The ambience makes you feel happy - warm, cozy, & funky all at once. At night, old films project on the wall. The food is farm fresh, unique, and incredible. And they make fantastic bloodies.

French toast. Is. Awesome. It's some cinnamony creamy bread glazed in caramel. Pretty much everything else on the menu is just as drool-inducing, but I really can't get over the French toast.

They don't take credit cards (ugh), but the fluffy scrambled eggs, creamy buttermilk pancakes, and rich coffee are worth an extra stop at the ATM.
The BEST ice cream outside of Shubert's in Chico, Ca. Take a number and prepare to wait for American and Latin favorite flavors. If you take home a pre-packed tub, you can cut your wait time down!
Tiny sushi joint in the Japan Town center. The super fresh sushi floats by on boats - prices are indicated by the color of the dish. You can order "baby scallops" off the menu - delish.
Lavish tequila bar, delicious guac. The Carne en su Jugo (beef bacon stew) tastes like your Mexican grandma made it just for you. Make sure you get here early if there's a Giants game that night.
The orzo salad here is unbelievable. So are the prosciutto-cheese pepper poppers. Actually, I don't want you coming here and making the line long, so pretend I didn't put it on this list.
Prix fix, delicious French food in the basement of a French hotel. Too close to Union Square and tourist madness, but worth it.

Hard to find great pizza in SF and this place has it. Deep dish Chicago style is money and Chicago-native approved, but so is the regular crust.

Great Soviet/Russian deli: pastries, cheeses, frozen dumplings, meats, salted/cured fish, side salads, breads, pastries, and candies. Ask for the "prevoznaya" (imported) bologne - not "homemade."
Great local sub shop in Noe valley. Hard to find "regular" sandwiches in the city sometimes and this is one of the best sandwich shops in town.
