- Having studied abroad in Henan province, this place tastes like a return to Kaifeng. The big tray chicken (大盤雞), beef/lamb noodle soup, and dumplings are all to die for. Drink the 王老吉 from the fridge!
- Jeff WeinsteinDécembre 27, 2016Dumplings, chicken parts, stews, hand pulled noodles. byob from a round the corner. Don't wear something you don't want sauce on. Wear something you do want sauce on.
- EaterJanvier 17, 2017This postage stamp sized, low-fi, BYOB, cash-only restaurant punches far above its weight class offering some of the city’s best noodles. Don’t overlook the big tray chicken or the pork pancakes. En savoir plus
- CarolineJanvier 28, 2020big tray spicy chicken (dà pán jī). China’s Uighur-majority Xinjiang province, dousing thick, hand-pulled noodles in a stew of chicken, garlic, potatoes, cumin, chiles star anise. feed two, $16. BYOB.
- Dane BDécembre 28, 2019Definitely have to come back for the Big Tray Chicken, but I can say that the pork pancake is fantastic. Better than the pork burger at Xi'an. Crank it up to 11 with some of the chili oil on the side.
- Eric VanderSchaafMars 22, 2019For soup dumplings, make a little side sauce by requesting an extra plate. Then mix vinegar & soy sauce 3:1 ratio, & add a good amount of spicy oil. Then let your dumplings sit in that mixture & eat!!
- Greg TanFévrier 22, 2019Look, there's lots of good things. The dry noodles with brisket is great, for example. But you CANNOT GO PAST the chicken tray, which is good for up to two people. Add potato noodles, trust me.
- Douglas EllimanJuillet 23, 2014The perfect spot to grab a bowl of noodles if you’re in China Town. We love how the menu is simple, but the attention to detail is extravagant. The flavors are great! We loved the tray of chicken.
- Mehan JayasuriyaSeptembre 1, 2014The big tray of chicken with hand-pulled noodles is the obvious choice here but the lamb hui mei is worth trying as well--it's probably the best this side of Flushing.
- Shaliga SuksomsongJanvier 4, 2017You must try the scallion beef pancake bun, All dried hand-pulled noodles, and love the cucumbers in the spicy Szechuan peppercorns.Everyone has been talking about the chicken pot, it's worth the try.
- They're obviously known for that amazing big bowl w/chicken sichuan style, but I always get the beef brisket and spicy dumplings. I can eat there every day.
- I don't know what my life would be like if I had never been introduced to this disguised haven. If I can eat here once a week I am a happy man! Must get the Big Tray of Chicken & Pancake with pork!
- Gilbert WongMai 25, 2019The OxTail & Beef Brisket were amazing. If you love Chicken; try their Spicy Big Tray, so much flavor you’ve never had anywhere else! But be warned, it’s not a big place & they don’t serve alcohol!
- Big Tray Spicy Chicken with one order of hand pulled noodles is THE dish to get. Pork dumplings and all the pancakes are good too.
- Props for the big tray of chicken (大盘鸡) and pancake with pork (肉夹馍)Seriously the MOST authentic Chinese hole-in-the-wall gem. The dishes are similar to Xi'an, but only more spicy and well-flavored.
- The Corcoran GroupAoût 26, 2013Grab a couple of friends and head here to split the pork pancakes and the big tray of chicken. It's the perfect combination!A voté pour il y a Aug 28
- Kind of obsessed with this place. My faves: pork pancake, spicy beef brisket hui mei, big tray of chicken (with noodles), baby bok choy & cold cucumbers. The owner is really nice & allows for BYOB!
- ElisaSeptembre 10, 2022Show up a bit before closing and you won’t have to wait long. Pork Pancake is nice and crispy. Noodles are good and lighter than xi’an, but you can’t really compare the two - they are different.
- For such an unassuming place, the noodles here are phenomenal and amazingly cheap. They specialize in "huimian" which is a style of braised noodle from Henan Province. Order the lamb huimian.
- Ray LinAvril 23, 2015The grungier cousin to Xi'ans, they offer similar hand-pulled noodles. Try the beef brisket noodle soup and start off with the soup dumplings. Limited seating, so come early.
- Spicy big tray chicken is great for sharing (or if you’re very hungry). The hui mei is also really good.
- Serious EatsJanvier 30, 2014Excellent hand-pulled noodles which you should order on the Big Tray of Chicken, a massive stew of spicy chicken and potatoes that serves three.
- Jarel HillJanvier 14, 2018Pretty good dumplings. The big spicy tray chicken was amazing. Should get with two noodles. Pancake w beef was on point as well. BYOB but the servers will try to rush u out.
- GothamistAoût 1, 2014Chinatown is already swimming in cheap, tasty meat—veggies are usually an afterthought. However, the $5 vegetable hui mei is delicious, satisfying, & expertly paired with a crisp bottle of suds (BYOB) En savoir plus
- Chris CooksonJuillet 16, 2015Don't be fooled by the name, this place is not "spicy" however you'll get deliciously spiced, wonderfully priced authentic Chinese food here. Different than the typical American Chinese spot.
- Serious EatsJuillet 10, 2013Excellent hand-pulled noodles, which you should order on the Big Tray of Chicken, a massive stew of spicy chicken and potatoes that serves three.
- Jonas LafortezzaAoût 24, 2017Black bean lo mein is the best. Pork pancake and chicken with peppers. Don't fuck around and get the sour dumpling soup
- Alex HunterJuillet 30, 2022Favorite vegetable dumplings in the city, gotta go with the spicy scallion sauce. Usually a wait but they turn tables quickly.
- Village VoiceMars 1, 2013Spicy Village tells it like it is with their Spicy Big Tray Chicken: an enormous platter of chicken with mouth numbing Sichuan peppercorns (share it if you want to spare some taste buds).
- JeffreyJuillet 20, 2014Why you go: the da pan ji, or “spicy big tray chicken,” a manhole-size skillet loaded with chunks of bone-on bird in a sea of oily red sauce spiked with chiles, star anise, and Sichuan peppercorns.
- Big plate chicken here is better than what I had in China!
- Ryan LeggettAoût 22, 2018Don’t miss the hand pulled noodles, but everything’s delicious. And it’s BYOB if you order at least $12 per person!
- Beth BatesAvril 4, 2013Spicy big tray chicken with hand pulled noodles added and plenty of pancakes on the side (I liked the beef pancakes the best) for dipping into the delicious spicy stew.
- Ryan Zhang 🤪Septembre 22, 2018The spicy pork pancake above everything. The crispiness makes it way better than Xi'an
- Delicious and unique (to Manhattan Chinatown) food. Lamb hue mei, beef pancake, big tray chicken are my go-to dishes
- Amy ChenJuin 17, 2015I got the beef brisket hand pulled noodle soup. So yummy. Get the small size because the proportions are insane.
- BYOB! Also, be warned: the big tray of chicken will leave your mouth numb from the peppercorns! But it's worth it!
- CaliGirl SavaDécembre 8, 2014Next to our apartment. Very popular, not fancy but the food, the food is just delicious!!! Homemade dishes and you can bring your own drinks!!!
- Lizzy SaxeNovembre 30, 2016It's impossible to go wrong here. The atmosphere isn't great and the service is brusque, but none of that matters since the food is just fabulous. Pictured is dumpling soup with sour broth.
- Don't bother with the paper menu. There are fifteen items on the wall and each is a solid, can't-miss specialty. Big Tray Chicken is a must if you brought friends.
- MarcJuillet 10, 2014TT 10 Cheap Eats: "hole-in-the-wall" "'big tray chicken' is famous; smaller meal - Huimei w/scrambled egg, tomato, crisp bok choy & slivered cucumbers is light and satisfying"

- Chad OrrMars 13, 2017The food is amazing! The pancakes and the Big tray of chicken (be sure to get extra noodles) are not to be missed!
- Yin LiFévrier 21, 2014I feel 'meh' towards the rest of the menu, but the big tray chicken + plain noodles (hui mian) = to die for. Take your leftovers to go and eat it with rice that's been soaked in the sauce.
- Quan NguyenAoût 26, 2016Fresh to death dumplings. Pepper chicken wasn't as spicy as expected, but had a nice hint of sweetness. Amazingly cheap. BYOB.
